Executive Summary – Several states hit with massive budget deficits are delaying sending out tax refund checks. Hawaii may be delaying refund checks until August. New York with a (billion dollar deficit plans on delaying issuing $500,000,000 in refund checks. A half dozen states are considering delaying tax refund checks. Virginia State Troopers Issue 7,016 Tickets in One Weekend
Executive Summary – The State of Virginia has a 2.2 billion dollar budget deficit. The state troopers went on a ticket blitz a week ago issuing all these tickets. Some of these tickets had a fine of $2500 associated with it. I expect they told the troopers that they would be facing layoffs if they did not get into raising money this way.
