"The AOL Moviegoer Awards satisfy a need not met by other awards," said Russ Leatherman, one of the founders of the Moviefone® service and the AOL Moviegoer Awards, and the famous voice known as Mr. Moviefone. "Some of the most popular and highest-grossing movies of the year -- including Spider-Man, Star Wars, Austin Powers and others -- most likely won't be recognized by industry awards like the Oscars. The AMAs enable millions of actual moviegoers to make their voice heard by the movie industry and recognize the films and performances that they view as the best." Beginning February 3, moviegoers across the country can view video of today's nominee announcement and cast their votes at AOL Keyword: AOL Moviegoer Awards or on the web at Moviefone.com. Additionally, AOL® Broadband members will have access to exclusive video footage of Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey inviting them to cast their votes for the Awards. Voting ends on March 10 and the winners will be announcedon March 17. The AOL Moviegoer Awards are especially timely as the Academy Awards® approach. In the weeks leading up to the Academy Awards®, AOL members can visit AOL Keyword: Red Carpet Countdown for all the latest Oscar® news and features. AOL's Red Carpet Countdown coverage will include content from AOL Time Warner partners Entertainment Weekly, InStyle and People, including Oscar® fashion, hits and misses, predictions on who will win and live updates both during and after the ceremony. Last year, moviegoers cast more than two million votes and selected The Lord or the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring as the Best Picture of the year. Russell Crowe was selected as Best Actor for his performance in A Beautiful Mind and Nicole Kidman won Best Actress for her role as Satine in Moulin Rouge. The year's best line according to moviegoers came from Mike Myers as the cranky green ogre, Shrek: "Oh, no, no, no, no. Dead broad OFF the table!" Paramount Pictures' How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, a new romantic comedy starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, opens nationwide on February 7.
