Dream Team, England's Popular Drama Series, is Ready to Deliver Sex, Scandal and Soccer for its February 4 U.S. Television Network Premiere January 2003 (Newstream) -- In a dream move for all American soccer fans, Fox Sports World proudly announces the premiere of England's sexiest and hottest soccer drama, Dream Team, to cable and satellite households in the U.S., beginning Tuesday, February 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. Two sizzling half-hour episodes will air each Tuesday, with rebroadcasts scheduled on Wednesdays at 11:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. PT. Dream Team is a bold combination of the sex appeal and the behind-the-scenes scandal of the professional sports world with television audiences' penchant for suspenseful soap operas. The series follows the lives of young professional soccer players of a fictional team, Harchester United, chasing their ultimate dream - to play in the English Premier League, the World's best soccer league. But that's not all. The show also promises a weekly dose of bed-hopping and romance chasing action, British-style. Fox Sports World's Executive Producer, Dermot McQuarrie, is confident that the show's mix of sex, passion and sports will enjoy tremendous success among America's television viewers. "I have never come across such a hot property," he said. "I was shocked and amazed when I saw the first tape. We had to edit out some of the sex and violence to get it on the air in prime time, but we still left plenty of sizzle. This series is a must see. It's not just one for the guys! Gals, look out for the hunky players like you've never seen them! This is one for all soccer fans." Dream Team has won six prestigious industry awards in England since its premiere in 1997, including the Best Satellite, Cable and Digital Program award category of The Indies, the annual awards for Independent Television Productions. In 1998, it picked up the Cable & Satellite Indie Award, and won "Favorite New Program on Cable TV" in the inaugural Cable Guide Awards, beating out popular U.S. favorites ER and Friends. The series has since picked up two more Broadcast and Indie Awards in 1999 and 2001. "Dream Team's popularity in England is a testament that sex, lies and pro soccer form a winning combination," said David Sternberg, General Manager of Fox Sports World. " This is a unique opportunity to marry a successful soccer-themed drama series with our equally suspenseful live soccer programming for American audiences." Fox Sports World is available through affiliated cable systems, and through DirecTV and Dish Network satellite providers. Fox Sports World is affiliated with Fox Sports International, an international sports programming and production entity housed within the Fox Cable Networks Group, one of the major operating units within the Fox Entertainment Group (NYSE: FOX) and News Corporation (NYSE: NWS).
