Maverick Records to Release Soundtrack for Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore's 50 First Dates

Featuring Music by Wyclef Jean, Seal, Jason Mraz and Wayne Wonder Hitting Stores on February 3

January 2004 (Newstream) -- Imagine having to win over the girl of your dreams...every friggin' day. That's the storyline of the upcoming Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore romantic comedy 50 First Dates, in theatres February 13th from Columbia Pictures. With a soundtrack to match the unique storyline, the disc will feature today's top artists recording new versions of classic '80s love songs with a reggae twist. From Wyclef Jean and Eve covering The Outfield's "Your Love" and UB40 with The Police's "Every Breath You Take" to Seal on Echo and the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar" and Jason Mraz on Thompson Twin's "I Melt With You," 50 First Dates is the ultimate musical first date.

The Love Songs from the Original Motion Picture: 50 First Dates is set for release on February 3rd with Wayne Wonder's cover of "Hold Me Now" as the first single hitting radio in mid-January. A video for the single will be shot in early January. While there were various producers on the soundtrack, two well-known musicians also contributed production credits. Nick Hexum (singer of 311) produced five of the songs on the album while Tony Kanal (bassist of No Doubt) worked the boards for three of the tracks.

This is not the first time Maverick Records has teamed up to release soundtracks to popular Adam Sandler films. The two soundtracks from the film "The Wedding Singer" have sold a combined total of nearly 5-million worldwide.

In the unforgettable romantic comedy 50 First Dates, love means never having to say, 'Who the hell are you?' Marine biologist Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) finds the perfect woman, Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore) and falls head over heels for her. But when he sees her the following day, she hasn't a clue as to who he is. Lucy suffers from a rare brain disorder that wipes her memory clean every night. Now, with the help of his friend Ula (Rob Schneider), he has to concoct new and increasingly clever ways to meet her and get her to fall for him every friggin' day.
