June 2003 (Newstream) -- Atlanta-based recording duo Youngbloodz are set to bring the A-town spirit back onto the hip-hop charts with "Damn!" the first single from their long-awaited second album, DRANKIN' PATNAZ, it was announced on June 4 by Jermaine Dupri, So So Def CEO and Arista Records senior vice president, and Antonio "L.A." Reid, president and CEO, Arista Records. The single and album find Youngbloodz joining the So So Def family (home to Da Brat, Bone Crusher).

"Damn!" is set to impact at R&B and Crossover radio formats on June 30th. The track was co-written by and features producer Jonathan "Lil' Jon" Smith; it was recorded in Atlanta's Stankonia Recording Studios by Lil' Jon (who has worked with Ludacris and Too Short). The video for "Damn!" was directed by Benny Boom and JD; Benny Boom's credits include clips with Lil' Mo featuring Fabolous ("4 Ever"), Lil' Kim featuring Mr. Cheeks ("The Jump Off"), and LL Cool J ("Luv U Better"). News of the "Damn!" video's premiere will be announced shortly.

The Youngbloodz kick off a promotional tour on June 5th with So So Def labelmate Bone Crusher at the Fox Den Theater in Memphis, TN. The promo tour will head through the southeast winding it's way to Chicago on July 2nd. The tour will include six shows with Bonecrusher and two radio shows in Atlanta and Montgomery (see below for dates).

DRANKIN' PATNAZ includes fresh tracks with a number of cutting-edge production teams including Drugstore Music ("Drankin' Patnaz"); the Trackboyz ("Hustle" featuring Killer Mike; "Lean Low" featuring Backbone); Mark Twayne for Attic Crew ("Sean Paul (Get 'Em Crunk," "Mud Pit," "Lane To Lane"); Big Floatie for Attic Crew ("Fa Sho"); Mello ("My Automobile"); Jazze Pha ("Mind On My Money"); Oomp Camp for Top Quality ("Whatchu Lookin' At"); ROB ("Cadillac Pimpin',"); and Presidential Productions ("No Average Playa").

DRANKIN' PATNAZ follows-up Youngbloodz' LaFace/Arista debut album of 1999, Against da Grain, which introduced the College Park team of Sean Paul (Joseph) and J-Bo (Jeffrey Grigsby). The album contained the back-to-back R&B/Hip-Hop chart singles, "U Way (How We Do It)" and "85" (with Big Boi of OutKast and Cutty Cartel of Jim Crow) which helped pave the way for what is now known as the Atlanta sound. "Shake 'Em Off" later emerged as an underground club favorite. In addition to showcasing Organized Noize Productions (of Outkast, TLC, Goodie Mob, En Vogue, and Cool Breeze renown), Against da Grain also introduced Youngbloodz' studio production wizards the Attic Crew.

Vibe magazine called the album a "delectable debut" not only full of bright promise, but it breaks the monotony of some of the same ol' sounds we've been hearing lately." Following its release, Youngbloodz were booked for opening gigs with label-mates OutKast and Goodie Mob.

Atlanta natives Sean Paul and J-Bo have been at it since 1992. After three years of fine-tuning their rhymes they were drawn to the infamous attic apartment of Big Floatie, a hangout for the other rappers, producers, and kindred spirits who would eventually make up the productive Attic Crew. Among the Crew is Mark Twayne, who worked on Against da Grain, went on to produce tracks by Mac 10, Pastor Troy, and Jim Crow, and now returns on DRANKIN' PATNAZ.
