Today, atheists, agnostics, freethinkers and humanists in the Palouse region of the Pacific Northwest joined forces to announce the launch of their coalition and its first event, Darwin on the Palouse, with PZ Myers, Daniel Dennett, Jen McCreight and Fred Edwords in a pair of International Darwin Day events at two local universities.
Humanists and atheists are saddened by the death of the prolific writer and outspoken atheist, Christopher Hitchens. “Humanity has lost a powerful stalwart for atheism,” said Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association. “Christopher Hitchens changed the discussion about religion and non-belief by championing public criticism of theology.”
